Punjab Announce Winter Vacations Schedule for Schools
The Punjab government is anticipated to announce a two-week winter vacation for educational institutions across the province. Historically, this break begins around late December to accommodate the colder weather. This year, schools in both the public and private sectors are likely to close from December 21, Saturday, through January 1, 2025, Wednesday.
The exact dates for the winter holidays will be confirmed by the Punjab School Education Department, which will consider current weather conditions before making a final decision. This year’s decision is particularly influenced by the severe smog that recently led to temporary school closures. Also Check Rana Sikandar Hayat Ending Saturday Holiday in Punjab Schools.
Last year, the scheduled winter break from December 18 to December 31 was extended to January 9 due to unexpected circumstances.
In a recent update, the Punjab government has reopened schools in the Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala divisions following a significant decrease in smog levels. However, schools in the Lahore and Multan divisions will remain shut until further notice as the administration continues to monitor environmental conditions.
Additionally, the Punjab School Education Department has rolled out new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure both student safety and the continuation of education during the winter season. The focus remains on striking a balance between educational requirements and public health and safety.
